Gathering
Activity - Paper Airplanes (Demonstrated at AM Round Table)
Materials: paper and other supplies (tape, glue, scissors, markers, etc.) for making paper airplanes; books or pictures showing various paper airplane styles. As the participants arrive, have them make paper airplanes, either individually or in groups of two or three. Encourage interaction with people they have not met before. Then have them fly their airplanes. If someone has a favorite paper airplane design, encourage that person to share it with others. Consider holding a contest for the best design or the furthest flown.

Cub #2 (bird

place.
Cub #3 (kite

and enjoy a wonderful part of nature.
Cub #4 (rocket
ship): It’s so exciting to see rocket ships SOAR and think about exploring the
universe.
Cub #5: Does
your heart stir as you see our national flag SOARING up at the top of the flag
pole? Please stand and join me in saluting this great flag while repeating the

Filling out these Family Tree Charts can be approached two ways:
1)One week before you plan to fill out these charts, give out the assignment for your cub scouts to collect the pictures and information about their ancestors. Then at the den meeting or pack meeting help the boys fill out the charts.

Famous
People DVD's
Watch a DVD about a famous person/s who had faith and accomplished big goals like this DVD October Sky about Homer Hickam, who was inspired by the fist Sputnik launch to take up rocketry. Then there is the DVD Cool Runnings about the true story of the Jamaica National Bobsleigh Team. You also have the DVD The Blind Side about Michael Oher who went from homeless to become and All American Football player.
Note: Since a den meeting is not 2 hours long, pick a 10 - 15 minute segment that you think would help your cubs understand having faith to accomplishing a goal.

First take pictures of the boys at a den meeting doing something fun. Then make prints of the pictures. Get some stickers and have the boys make a scrapbooking page. On a separate piece of paper, have the boys write something about the pictures. Then have them rewrite what they wrote nicely on the scrapbooking page.
Finally, have the boys fill out the 'Time Capsule Information Sheet.' - Place both the scrapbooking page and the 'Time Capsule Information Sheet' inside a big envelope. Seal it and then give it to them at their Eagle Court of Honor.
Song
“The
Noble Captain Kirk”
Tune: “The Grand Old
Duke of York”/“A-Hunting We Will Go”
The
noble Captain Kirk,
He had
four hundred men.
He
beamed them up to the Enterprise,
And
beamed them down again.
And
when they’re up, they’re up. (Stand up.)
And
when they’re down, they’re down. (Sit down.)
And
when they’re only half way up,
Their
atoms roll around. (Wave and flap your arms.)
Cheers
Supersonic Cheer:
We all know light travels faster than sound; in this case we see the cheer before we hear it. Wave arms and pretend to cheer (no noise). Then sit down (or remain standing), wait a moment, and—at the leader’s signal—make sounds.

Apollo Space Craft Countdown: 10 - 1!! BLASTOFF! Then with your hand gain orbit and even out.
Then
say, "Beep, Beep, Beep, Beep."
Blast Off Cheer:
Start
counting backwards from 6 to 1. Bend
your knees a little more on each count until you are in
a
squatting position. Then while saying, "Blast off!" jump straight up
in the air.
